Term Project

Bonjour, Cupcake!
  • About my eBusiness Bonjour Cupcake!
The purpose of my eBusiness is to create delicious dessert treats that is good for the mind, body and soul.  Using all natural, organic fresh ingredients with a fun new twist to ordinary tastes.  Bonjour Cupcake will be available internationally, with cupcakes being its specialty.  Ranging from outrageous never before seen flavors to the classics.
Vision/Mission: Bonjour Cupcake is to provide tasty treats that appeal to the mind and the body.  Customer satisfaction is the main goal of my eBusiness, striving to go above and beyond the average expectations of our consumers all over the world.  From designing flavors tailored to their needs, wants and desires.

Business Model/Business Types:B2C is where the business and actual customers interact. This is essential to my business because in order to grow and maintain a loyal customer base you need to know your customers. B2B, which is the interaction between two businesses selling each other goods would be an ideal situation for my company in order to expand the name and branding. By selling my products to other businesses to sell in their own stores or websites would brighten the name of the company and make it more well known.

Product/Service: My eBusiness will focus on dessert sales, primarily cupcakes.  The core product is providing customers with quality baked goods, especially cupcakes. This product will be top quality, and uniquely made. Various flavors and sizes of the cupcakes will be available, for all occasions. They will be customized to fit each and every customer.   My eBusiness will focus on traditional and innovative innovation cells. Mixing the old with the new will give my business a familiar yet unique spin.

People Needed: CIO: It is important to have a CIO especially in a e business since they are responsible for internet based internal information systems. CTO: Research and development is extremely important for a company to grow and expand. That is why in order to become a more well known and successful company and explore new possibilities for potential new products. CSO:Especially for a online based company, security of the communications and business systems is vital. Therefore a CSO is extremely important to receive and maintain a loyal client base. CPO:In order to provide customers with ease and safety towards important personal information being transferred through the internet a CPO will be a great asset to have in order to secure and keep the information where it belongs. CKO:Knowledge is something that will put the company ahead of others. It will be a driving force to ensure the success of a great e business. It maximizes the value it achieves through knowledge, one of the most important assets.
  • Strategy & Management
Industry: The Industry my eBusiness will be in is Food/Pastry.
Best Practice Competitors:   Competitors of Bonjour Cupcake include Babycakes Bakery, a vegan and organic cupcake shop based in NYC.  Also, Baked By Melissa, a unique cupcake chain in the United States.

SWOT:

Ingredients used in cupcakes are all natural and organic. Target market covers a vast majority of age groups. Unique taste and recipes.Cupcakes may have a negative reputation of being unhealthy. Can only target cupcake lovers, not a large scale of inventory to sell.

Located online so it can reach customers around the world. Competitive advantage of a "healthy" cupcake. Many other cupcake shops offering similar services.
Target Customer: My target customers are 18-30 health conscious male and females living in urban locations.
CRM and SCM: CRM is a great way to get to know the customers and their needs to increase their loyalty and customer satisfaction. Retaining new customers and receiving new customers would be a direct effect of CRM. Having a Facebook page and a loyalty program where customers can earn points and discounts through purchases would be ways to implement CRM in my eBusiness.
Business Focus: Bonjour Cupcake will be focused on providing customers with tasty yet healthy dessert options. Having organic, preservative free locally grown ingredients that will satisfy the target market.

  • IT & IS

Data: Transactional data is needed to drive my ebusiness. Data of orders, payments and invoices is needed in order to run a successful and orderly eBusiness. Without transactional data there will be no record of how well the business is doing. Shipping data is also extremely important in order to provide the fastest and best service available. Knowing where your product is and when it arrives is definitely a needed service. Customer data may be one of the most important forms of data needed for a e business, or a business of any kind. Knowing who your customer is so you can tailor your services to fit their needs for years to come.
KPI's:  A key performance indicator would be how many visits there are to my eBusiness' website a day or week. This is important to see how much foot traffic it is getting and where we can make more customers come to the website or have people stay longer. Also, how many new customers are acquired would be a great KPI in order to keep track of how many new customers are entering the website. An important KPI may be Cycle Time, the amount of time it takes from the initial order to the delivery of the product. This will help with the effectiveness of the overall production.
Intranet: Having the Intranet would be a great asset to my e-business. By having an Intranet I would be able to distribute and share important, vital information to only the people within my private internet. This would be a great way to share with my employees secret information. By being able to distribute information within my company, and only within my company would be a great way to expand and progress the company.
Extranet: The purpose of the extranet is to gain access from the outside for business or educational purposes. For Business to Business it seems to be a great asset, having suppliers, vendors and even partners gain some access to the company's intranet. But for Business to consumer, which is what my e-business is I do not find it that necessary. Having consumers have access to part of my business's network would be bit much especially for a small business. Maybe when the company is well known and has grown having an extranet would be more of an option.
Web 1.0 or 2.0: Having both Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 would give many advantages to my e-business. Having both would provide interactive and non-interactive parts of the website. With Web 2.0 customers would be able to give feedback and interact with each other, which would be a great way to get information from the consumers in a free manner. Also, using Web 1.0 would give the basic necessities to my e-business, like a shopping cart. I would like to use both 1.0 and 2.0 because I want to incorporate as many assets as possible to make the online experience the best it can be for the consumer.
Databases & Database Warehouse:  My eBusiness would need databases. It would help immensely with customer relationships and internal business purposeless. For example a database would be vital to hold and update information on my products, prices and promotional codes that may be in use or expired. Also databases would be used to obtain and keep track of transactions the company makes and what products have been purchased. Also, information on customers, personal information that would be useful for my eBusines -- where they live, income and reasons for purchasing.

A data warehouse is a logical collection of information - gathered from many different operational databases - that supports business analysis and decision making. This would be a great addition to an e business. It will help with finding out where the business is going, information that will be vital in deciding if there is room for expansion or not. Also it would be used to create predictions on the future. It will help me not be blind in the decisions I make and having all the right information at my finger tips. A Data Warehouse would be great in deciding the future of the products and the company.

Innovation Cells:

It maximizes the value it achieves through knowledge, one of the most important assets.
My eBusiness needs to implement SCM in order to run a orderly and successful business. A supply chain is the coordinated flow of materials, information, money and also services provided from raw material factories all the way to the consumers' hands. SCM is needed and a great step forward in reducing the problems/friction along the supply chain, from warehouses, factories and raw material houses to the customer. I will not be using Barcode minimally in my ebusiness, most products will be made daily, having cupcakes being our main product sold. These products are perishable and are home made. Barcode might be used on other merchandise that may be sold at my ebusiness. RFID will not be used in my eBusiness. my eBusiness will be a small company at first, not having the money or technology to use RFID. Maybe in the future RFID will be a benefit of my business. EDI will be used by my company, exchanges of documents and communication throughout the company and distributors would be a great step in the right direction.

BI: A Business Intelligence would be needed to make accurate and smart business decisions. It would answer questions my company may have in regards to product sales and the future of the company. Why products are not being purchased in certain parts of the company or a certain season, why have sales dropped since June, this will all be able to be answered through BI.
